Now, we did actually spend some time comparing and contrasting the book with the movie, but this was still a little bit of a cop-out.Really, I just needed some time to play catch up, and a movie was the easiest way to get some extra time.
Although a movie reiterates the plot of a book, a variety of differences can be noticed in the style, themes, focus, and details of two pieces.
To write a strong compare and contrast paper, you should discuss both similarities and differences and analyze why they occur.
I wanted my students to think more critically and more deeply.
I found the best way to encourage deeper thinking was to ask students some questions watching the movie.
While it may be easy to trace similarities and differences in the plot, your task is more than that.
Include your personal analysis to make your essay stronger.
Will it be messy, small, bright, noisy, beautiful, spooky, cold, colorful, etc?
• What parts of the book do you think will be cut out of the movie? What scenes were added to the movie that weren’t in the book? • What are some other differences between the book and the movie?
One thing I did not like about the movie is that they changed or added some details into the movie that the book did not have.
The ending of the movie was much better then the ending in the book....
